“Best Monday of my Life!” as Washington’s Lottery Winner Claims the $6.4 Million Lotto Jackpot

July 20, 2011 • Federal Way WA

FEDERAL WAY, WA – What were you doing on Monday, July 18 at 10:00 AM? If you asked Jack Poltz Jr. he would tell you he was busy – busy winning $6.4 million! Yesterday, Jack Poltz Jr. walked into the Washington’s Lottery Federal Way regional office and claimed his $6.4 million Lotto Jackpot – among the top 20 largest Lotto jackpots in Washington’s Lottery history. Not a bad way to start the week.

Jack has been a Washington’s Lottery player for 10 years; he purchased his winning Lotto ticket from Top Food & Drug in Auburn on July 8, the Friday before the drawing.

Always using Quick Pick to choose his numbers, Jack plays Washington’s Lottery games every Monday and Friday – mixing it up between Lotto, Mega Millions, Powerball, and various Scratch games. For the past week, Jack stored his winning Lotto ticket in his car’s visor – among a mixture of twenty other Lottery tickets. Once a week he takes all of his tickets in to check their numbers, which is why he didn’t find out that he was $6.4 million richer until yesterday!

Jack’s wife, Susan read in the newspaper that someone from Auburn won the big Lotto jackpot, and mentioned it to Jack early last week. While waiting in the car, Susan had no idea Jack was checking his Lotto numbers. Inside the store, Jack said he was in disbelief when he saw he won, and explained he saw a bunch of zeros asking “What’s wrong with this machine?” He checked his ticket several times before heading back to his wife in their car. Susan said he seemed really excited, “he’s never that excited to see me!” When Jack told his wife he won she did not believe him; she said “You’re lying!”

Jack’s Lotto win will now make the retired Boeing program manager’s golden years a little sweeter. After finding out that he is Washington’s newest millionaire, Jack already has a few plans in mind on how he will spend his money. He plans to pay off his house, buy a new Ford, and will likely donate to charity later. After leaving the Lottery office Susan exclaimed “this is the best Monday of my life!”
