Time to start your new year off right by getting into healthy eating habits along with your daily exercise. Did you know that a habit takes at least thirty days, so make sure you are making a strong effort to start changing your eating habits now along with making exercise a priority.
There are some great healthy snacks that you can be eating at your desk or at home that can help jump start your good eating habits.
Have you heard about the amazing health benefits that Greek yogurt has to offer? I recently purchased Chobani Greek Yogurt and have been enjoying it immensely. Chobani yogurt is naturally good for you. They use a special straining process that helps provide two times more the protein in the yogurts…that’s 34% of your daily value over regular yogurts.
Other health benefits include 50% less sodium, 14-18 grams of protein in every 6oz cup of Chobani, high in whey protein content which makes them perfect for a pre- or post-workout fuel! There are also a wide variety of flavors to choose from.
Another great snack I recently fell in love with are kale chips. I picked up some deliciously organic kale at TOP and followed this recipe for baked kale chips http://glutenfreegirl.com/baked-kale-chips/and have been bringing them into work for snacks.
Kale is incredibly good for you! Did you know one cup of kale contains 5 grams of fiber and 15% of the daily requirement of calcium? It is also a great source of potassium, Vitamin B6, magnesium and iron. Some like to call kale, the “queen of greens” because kale is incredibly high and full of antioxidant vitamins A, C and K!
Furthermore, if you are a pop-a-holic I have the answer for you! My new favorite drink is Zevia…it is a delicious and refreshing drink that is sweetened with stevia. Stevia is an all-natural and zero calorie sweetener and contains no artificial flavors. These delicious drinks also come in a wide variety of flavors from Ginger Root (similar to Root Beer), Lemon Lime (similar to 7-up or Sprite), Black Cherry, Dr. Zevia (similar to Dr. Pepper) and many more.
Along with eating healthy you should also be exercising at least thirty minutes a day. That can include a walk with a friend, walking your dog, running, jumping, etc…whatever you need to do to get your body moving for at least thirty minutes a day.
I will commit along with all of you to working out at least thirty minutes a day along with eating more healthy, natural and organic food for 2012!
