Olympia TOP Food & Drug Starting Extensive Renovation
A multimillion-dollar renovation of the Olympia TOP Food & Drug that will transform the store begins Monday, July 14
Work on the store at 1313 Cooper Point Road will be completed in early November. TOP Food & Drug will remain open 24 hours a day during the project and every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience to customers, according to store manager Daryl Johnson.
“We’re so excited about this renovation because just about everything inside and outside the store will be upgraded,” Johnson said. “When we’re finished, this will be a modern, attractive store with amenities that our customers want.”
The produce department, featuring fruit and vegetables from Northwest growers, will be relocated and become the store’s focal point. The current cheese table will be transformed into a gourmet cheese department offering cheeses from around the world. The Market Street Café will be expanded, adding ready-to-cook entrees and toasted submarine sandwiches to the current Oriental Kitchen, salad bar and deli.
Every department inside the 88,000-square-foot TOP Food & Drug, opened in 1987, is being rebuilt to improve the shopping experience, Johnson said. TOP Food & Drug is known for its outstanding meat and produce departments, incredible quality and an extensive product selection, all at a great price. TOP Food & Drug offers USDA Choice 5-Star Angus Beef, numerous local produce items, BellaTerra breads and salads made daily from scratch at the store.
The Olympia store, which employs more than 140 people, already offers an in-store bakery, a pharmacy, a garden shop, a full-service floral department, a café and a Starbucks location.
“The outside of our store also is receiving a facelift,” Johnson said. “The store’s exterior and interior will feature a Northwest-style décor.”
